I was really bummed out that I couldn’t see them on tour, but this cassette is making up for that. 20 minutes of new music from each act, and right after Death Kneel and Oil Thief dropped 2019’s two best LPs? God knows what we did to deserve this beauty, but I’m glad it’s here. If you like your electronics raw and heavy, you’d be a fool to not pick this up

UC always manages to bring something unique and compelling with each album, and Aqua Placenta is as hard-hitting as one could expect from an artist this prolific. Juggling elements of trip hop, noise, ocean grunge, and vaporwave all at once, everything feels almost effortlessly slotted into place, tied by the album’s environmental theming and the mood surrounding said themes. While Lindsheaven’s similarly themed “Nordwrong” was wistful, “Aqua Placenta” is tense, angry, bombastic.
